In 1921, 19 year old Chafic Halwany started a small
trading business in the central district of Beirut dealing mainly
with fresh fruits and vegetables. With substantial efforts and profound
determination, this small business grew larger to become, in 1950,
a major supplier for the local market and neighboring areas.
In 1972, 22 years later, Chafic Halwany's sons founded Les Fils
De Chafic Halwany s.a.r.l. (FCH) with lots of spirit and determination.
This firm dealt with agro-alimentary transactions in the Arab peninsula
making the bridge between the west and the Middle East area. Gradually,
the company specialized in the distribution of frozen food including
a variety of poultry, meat, seafood, vegetables, fruits and value
added products with a product portfolio of more than 300 items.
Due to the war in Lebanon, FCH concentrated its activities in the
Lebanese market and rapidly became the leading importer and distributor
of frozen food. For more convenience and to better meet its needs,
FCH built in 1981, with the collaboration of French company SAGEM,
a highly developed cold store facility equipped with the latest
refrigeration techniques.
Changing time & needs have made FCH expand its business in many
ways: in terms of territory, we now cover Lebanon as well as other
countries (e.g. Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, KSA, Kuwait, Syria, UAE,
Qatar, Poland, Romania); in terms of products, we also expanded
our product line to include canned food items; in terms of services,
we added to our distribution activity a private labeling service
whereby we design and package products in the customers' own brand
& specific preferences.
To optimize its expansion plans, FCH founded in 2003 C-food International
(off-shore) s.a.l. with a primary role to handle all international
transactions and market expansion.
